I have stayed in and worked for hostels all over Australia, Asia and Sth America and Halse Lodge is most definitely my favourite hostel, no question.

This authentic 1880s National Trust and Heritage Listed backpacker hostel is set in the heart of Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast surrounded by two acres of gardens and rainforest. Backpackers can relax on the hostels shady veranda's or walk to Laguna Beach or Noosa's famous Hastings Street shops. The hostel has a licensed restaurant with on-site bar. Backpacker facilities include security lockers, free surfboards, bodyboards, table tennis, pool table and bikes are available from hostel reception.
Only 100 metres from Noosa's beach and relaxed Hastings Street - a colourful collection of shops, cafes, nightclubs and bars right on Laguna beach.
