  • Cabin my son and I stayed in was unexpected. Usually private rooms are in a building, but enjoyed the privacy. Table and chairs outside the cabin in the sun for breakfast, couldn't be better.

    We had detached cabin with en-suite bathroom which turned out to have been cabin used by competitors in Sydney Olympics in 2000 and very comfortable it was too!

    The hostel was good value for money as far as I can tell since I arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning. The dorm, the kitchen, and the shower/toilet were very clean and in good shape. The receptionist very friendly.

    We just stopped by for one night on our way to the Whitsundays, but it was a nice surprise that we actually got a separate cabin (we booked an ensuite double room). Looks like a caravan park instead of a crowded hostel.

  • Rockhampton YHA backpacker hostel is located a short walk from the Fitzroy River and the CBD. The hostel has multi-share and double/twin rooms, some with ensuites, which are suitable for all backpackers. Facilities include kitchen, laundry, dining and TV room internet and tour booking service which is available at the hostel reception.
